Three communities within the Quad Cities region have been recognized by Site Selection magazine for new investment along the Mississippi River corridor in 2016. The economic development magazine annually ranks metropolitan and micropolitan areas by number of projects per capita and by number of projects.

The Davenport-Moline-Rock Island MSA ranked 6th on the list of total projects with 19 projects; Muscatine, IA ranked 4th on the list of projects per capita with 3 projects in a community of 42,903 and Clinton, IA ranked 7th on the list of projects per capita with 3 projects in a community of 48,051.

“This type of recognition adds to the momentum in the Quad Cities,” says Liz Murray Tallman, Chief Economic Development Officer, Quad Cities Chamber. “It builds awareness of the Quad Cities to companies and site location consultants across the country, and showcases our region as a quality place to do business.

In 2016, companies in the six-county region of Scott, Clinton and Muscatine in Iowa, and Rock Island, Mercer and Henry in Illinois, invested $247.92 million and created 186 new jobs within the awards criteria.

Awards are based on growth in the industries of manufacturing, call centers, headquarters, data centers, distribution warehouse, office, and research and development. To qualify toward the project count, expansions must  include new construction and meet one or more of the following: 20 or more new jobs created, 20,000 square feet or more in new square footage, and an investment of $1 million or more in construction cost, land, building or employees.
