Ag Innovation Update Q4 2021

AG Innovation Update Q4 2021

Drivers

  • Online purchasing of food for in-home use continues to surge. This has had a tremendous effect on food processing and food distribution companies that now need to expand their warehouses, cold chain logistics and automation systems.
  • Sustainability continues to be an industry trend as food manufacturers consider how their decisions impact the global environment. Changes include replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy sources, rethinking packaging to significantly reduce plastic use, reducing water consumption in food processing and developing more sustainable cleaning solutions for end-products and equipment.

Drawbacks

  • Labor shortages continue to be a challenge in the ag innovation industry. Employers are taking a hard look at recruitment and retention strategies. Flexibility of hours, wage rates, employee transportation, childcare challenges and company culture are just some topics that are being discussed within companies.
